RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, dependable stick I favor wood sticks and this is the best I've found. The SherWood 5030 is a bit too bulky for my taste, though I have one as a fall-back stick. The 7000 is heavily impregnated with fiberglass (the cross-section is interesting too look at after sawing off the top of the handle to make it shorter) and is very light but strong. I'm a forward and rarely need to uncork long-range slap shots. The 7000 is great for fine stickhandling and wristers. I like the feel of it for passing. It's durable, too. The failures never occur in the shaft or near the heel but in the blade. A tip... apply some epoxy resin to the small space at the tip of the blade where the fiberglass ends and also spread the resin across the edge at the tip. I've found that this, along with wrapping the blade and waxing the tape, keeps water from infiltrating the wood in the blade and enables the stick to last much longer. It takes all of 15 minutes to do this but it prolongs the life of the stick significantly. I'm sold on the 7000 compared with much more expensive composites. For ~ $35 this is the best value out there. It's unfortunate that they're hard to find in the U.S. these days. I can't understand why SherWood isn't selling more of these.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from breaks easily i love the feel of wood sticks and my 5030 looses its stiffness to quick so i thought i would try this since it is a higher flex. feel is great and slappers are huge. but after one game the fiberglass lamination running down the shaft had bowed out and snapped. second one did the same thing. i thought switching to wood would save me money since i snap sticks often, but at this rate i think im better off going back to warrior.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Wood Stick on the Market I've used tons of wood sticks over the years, for ice, roller, and street hockey, and none comes close to this. The shaft is sleek, rounded, and very light for a wood stick. A lot of fiberglass in the construction so it's much more durable than standard wood sticks, and the blade literally adapts to any situation. It will perform well on ice, and outdoors, it wears like an ABS blade. The stick also retains it's pop a lot longer than other wooden sticks. This is one of those rare products that's low priced, and yet excels at anything you use it for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from One of the Better Wood Sticks I thought the stick was decent overall. For a wood stick it has got a nice feel to it and it does have a nice selection of curves available. Downside is the stick got very flimsy and too flexible but the blade is pretty durable which is surprising for wood sticks.
