RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great helmet for the price This was a good starter helmet for my son. Overall he loved the helmet, but playing roller in Southern California the extra padding made him extra hot. He also felt it was pinching his head after he wore if for an extended time. For the price your cannot beat this helmet. We just felt it was time to upgrade so we went with a higher end helmet. For anyone on a budget this is a great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good for the money i bought this about two months ago, and still no real signs of stress. this helmet offers pretty good protection where it is needed. also i live in southern Texas and sometimes the heat is intense if i play street hockey, but it breathes remarkably well.it is definatly one of the most comfortable things i have worn in my life. it is a bit narrow but nothing major.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly comfortable... but can it stop a slapshot? I picked up one of these after trying it out and being surprised by how comfortable it was. I was looking for a super-cheap, cage-less helmet to coach in and this fit the bill in both regards. - Would it be good for Youths and Juniors? Maybe, as long as it's still in a no-check division. - Would I use it in an adult rec league game? Not likely, maybe only as a back up. - Would I use it as a high school or college player? Absolutely not. It's a step down in design from the 4500, but a step up in comfort. Basically a great helmet for simpler play. Look elswhere if you want more protection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Value My previous helmet was a Bauer 4000 (older version of the 4500), and it was extremely uncomfortable. This helmet is a definite upgrade in comfort, although it does run slightly narrow, at least for me. The protection level is exactly the same as the 4500 (same shell material, and same material inside helmet), and the design makes it look like a high end helmet. All in all, a decent helmet, and at $35, an incredible value.

What is the HECC Certification date range on these helmets?

HECC Certifications expire 5 years from the date of manufacture. Are these close-outs of old inventory that will expire in a year or two or are they new helmets that will expire in 4.5-5 years?
Asked by: Heipfam
Each helmet is specific. If the helmet has been sitting on the shelf longer than others it will have a shorter date range. There is no way to tell what helmet as what expiration before shipping.

Will a visor fit on this helmet?

If so what size
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, most visors will fit on this helmet. Ideally you would want the visor to stay withn one size of the helmet. So for example, if you have a large helmet I would recommend a medium or large visor.

Can you remove the ear guards?

Asked by: Anonymous
No. The screw behind the ears is for adjustment like the 4500. The ear guard is a part of the molded plastic front half of the helmet. You'd have to cut it off, which I really wouldn't recommend.
