Hockey Retailer Announces Plan to Help Grow the Game
12.03.08--ST. LOUIS
Total Hockey recently announced its latest endeavor: launching the charitable program, Hockey Heroes. Hockey Heroes is dedicated to providing the opportunity to play hockey to those who otherwise might not have the means. As part of their commitment to further grow and develop the game of hockey, Total Hockey is working to expose hockey and increase interest among America’s youth.
In addition to fund raising activities, Hockey Heroes implements a variety of initiatives to further develop the game of hockey by educating players on proper techniques, correct equipment fitting and usage, as well as providing tips on safety strategies.
“Total Hockey has long supported efforts to grow the game and has offered support to organizations that are themselves integral to youth hockey. Now we are formalizing these efforts by developing an umbrella program under which diverse initiatives will be organized,”said Michael Benoit, president of Total Hockey. “Our mission with Hockey Heroes is to make these grow-the-game efforts more regular, more measurable, and more effective.”
Partnered with USA Hockey, Total Hockey plans to utilize Hockey Heroes to sponsor a variety of charitable hockey organizations in the upcoming years. The USA Hockey Foundation was selected as the premier organization to kick off Hockey Heroes’ fund raising efforts. Customers have the opportunity to make a $1 donation at checkout both online at www.totalhockey.comand at all Total Hockey retail stores. Every time a customer chooses to add a one dollar donation to their transaction, Total Hockey will match that contribution.
Future donations and services will support an array of non-profit hockey organizations, programs and causes, which will be selected in part by USA Hockey.
