Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Bucket for being older comfortable, great protection, and they come in every color of the rainbow! adjustment in the back makes the helmet fit my head so much better... what a beautiful feature!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed reviews... I bought this helmet 2 years ago when it came out for $190 as I liked the protection that it offered along with it's adjustability. I purchased a "large" as that is my size. I always had difficulty getting it to fit right. It would hurt the back of my head/neck area. I added padding to the lower portion of the helmet to help with the fitment as it always seemed to slide down as I began to sweat... and this was with it adjusted as small as it could go. It's my opinion that the sizing runs bigger than what it is. Some the pads came off and I just placed them back on as they were still sticky. My 15 year old nephew wears the same helmet and I tried it on since it is a medium and it fit me perfectly. I just purchased another one in a medium as it was on sale. Hopefully this will do the trick and the pads will not fall off of this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I wouldn't buy this again Loved the helmet for the first few months ( under 6 ). After roughly 6 months the glue which holds the Poron pads let loose. The Poron pads were the whole reason I spent the extra money on this helmet. I've called Bauer & emailed them multiple times attempting to find out where I could BUY adhesive for this helmet with ZERO RESPONSE from Bauer. My next helmet will not be a Bauer due to poor quality & lack of response from Bauer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sticky Padding A review from some who plays roller derby and not hockey. I tried on this helmet, the Cascade M11 and the Easton 700. This is a good looking helmet, and it fit nice and snug, but I returned it because the padding is sticky from the glue, and I could see how the reports of the padding falling out could happen. In the end I went with the Easton 700.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Helmet The Bauer 9900 is a fantastic helmet, it fit right out of the box with its easy side, and rear adjustability. It feels very light on the rink and never slipped when i started to get sweaty. The ventilation is nice too with large openings for air to enter and exit. I also like the 2 tone look of it, on my old RBK I never got any compliments on it, my first game with this new helmet I got many comments about it

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Quality As noted in another review, the Poron pads come unglued after only moderate use and proper care. The glue is inadequate for the purpose that Bauer is intending and the product needs to be fixed. The padding and other features are excellent but ruined by the poor quality of the glue.

Would a Reebok 11K cage be compatible with a Bauer 9900 helmet?

My hemet is an adult small. I am asking this question because of the chin cup. It gives me a terrible rash after playing for an hour or so.
Asked by: Anonymous
The problem could be the facemask is too small for you face and is causing continuous friction as you play. You may also be allergic to the foam used in the chin cup. If the cage is too small for the helmet the helmet will not sit properly on you head and your field of vision will be obstructed as well. A simple solution may be to adjust the height of the clips that support the cage at the side of your helmet. This can reduce the pressure from the chin cup to your chin. Don't completely remove those clips however because you could possibly end up with a broken jaw from an impact from a check or an impact with the ice or the boards. It may also leave the helmet too loose on you head and the helmet may spin if you are checked or you hit something. You may need several tries to find the right height for the clips. If you find the facemask is too small and can't be adjusted to a reasonable comfort level, or you are still experiencing a rash , chances are you may have to move up to a different cage size or cage brand all together. Go to a retailer and check out other cages. Different brands will use different materials in the cup and one may be less irritating than others. You can also check a compatibility chart that comes with the packaging to simplify which cage fits which type and size of helmet. This chart will also be available on hockey equipment web sites when you click on the cages you are interested in.

Has Bauer addressed the glue/padding situation?

I've heard that the glue in the 9900 stops working properly and the padding starts sliding around. Has Bauer fixed this problem?
Asked by: Anonymous
After 6 weeks Bauer finally replied with my email,,,,,,telling me to talk to Total Hockey to see if they knew how / had a fix. Unbelievable ! After talking to some guys on my team that all had same issue w/ their Bauer helmets,,,he 'fix' is a 5 dollar tube of Amazing Goop available at Home Depot. Be warned,,,,the stuff stinks,,,use it outdoors and give plenty of time to dry b4 you gotta put helmet back on.

what size would be better to go with for a person with a hat size of 7 1/4, medium or large?

Asked by: KRW91
A large 9900 helmet would be the best fit.
